Quite possibly the most fulfilling achievement in life is to provide opportunity for others. To pass on knowledge and experience. The chance to learn, grow and attain self belief. Provide young boys and girls with a ‘ticket to the game’ of life.
The Hayden Reynolds Garden Project at Tiwi College does this and more. An amazing vision, backed by quality people, this unique garden and teaching facility is already changing the lives and hopes of the youth of the Tiwi Islands and will be a long lasting legacy for generations to come.
To continue my association with the Hayden Reynolds Tiwi garden project in its fifth year has been as fulfilling, from when the project first started.
Apart from the obvious visual impact of the garden area, which is now so impressive, the effect of the project goes further . It’s about education, self respect and discipline for the children and why it has been embraced so well. Something that is so simple is providing so much traction. Well done all involved.
What an inspirational experience to visit the Tiwi Garden and see firsthand the enormous benefit, opportunity and experience the garden is providing to the young Tiwi boys and girls. Creating, nurturing and developing plants and wildlife and benefitting health wise and mentally from that is an awesome lesson for the kids and further compliments the grounding of education the kids are receiving. Potential future leaders of the Tiwi and Australia’s population in general I am sure are growing right now with and from the Tiwi Garden.
While the game of cricket has gifted me the opportunity to experience many different countries and cultures throughout the world, my Tiwi Ashes experience stands out as the best. The Hayden Reynolds ‘Garden’ Project at the Tiwi College is an wonderful example of a special vision to provide invaluable life lessons and opportunity through education for these amazing kids.
I have been attending the Tiwi College for the last few years and in that short time I have noticed the changes every year in the work that has been carried out and how happy the people are with what seems such a small gift from us all but it is bringing so much joy to so many also to have been given the opportunity to share this with my son has been sensational he can’t wait to get back to do what he can to help.
